alfie carter
Alfie’s practice is an exploration of the personal and generational histories of the Cockney working class. His work - both sculpture and painting - examines culture, language, and built environment, and how these were shaped by the socio-economic developments of the post-war period. He’s particularly interested in how this cultural history is remembered and so persists in the Essex ‘Cockney diaspora’ into which he was born, and how rhythms, slang, and oral traditions shape belonging and enforce boundaries of class and place.
Alfie graduated in 2026 from the Slade School of Fine Art (BFA Fine Art Sculpture).
